Welcome to Exnilingo, where languages are learned together !
Most forums geared towards language learners are useless. The layouts aren't user-friendly. Threads are random. Dead conversations from 2017 resurface with no sense of continuity. No structure, no progression, no personal pages linked to the members. Just floating usernames with no history. And the occasional person trolling you because anonymity allows them to.
The result? You ask all your questions to ChatGPT and you end up studying alone. You slowly cut yourself off from real interaction with learners and native speakers who could actually help, motivate you and let you practice. No one witnesses your progress so you have no incentive to show up for yourself.
What's different here
Members have personal pages with a visible history of participation. Your journey accumulates publicly. Not in a performative way, but in a way that creates real commitment.
- People can see who you are, how active and useful you are, what you're working on, how you think
- You have access to files and media other members have shared, which can help you in your own learning journey
- You are placed in communities that are tailor-made for your profile, where you can meet natives and fellow learners of your languages
- Nothing ever disappears into the void
Community becomes possible because continuity exists.
What you can do here
- Document your journey in dedicated groups
- Build a public learning portfolio linked to your profile
- Create media-rich study logs: files, audio, videos, receipts of your progress 👀
- Exchange real strategies and learning experiments
- Get feedback from native speakers
- Find serious tandem partners
- Share resources without gatekeeping
- Collaborate with thoughtful learners
- Explore approaches adapted to different cognitive styles (because we're not all wired the same, and that's the point!)
How the launch works
We're not throwing thousands of strangers into one giant silent room.
Members join in batches, grouped by the languages they're learning and the ones they already know well. Smaller circles = real interaction. The chance to actually recognize names and faces, and not try to engage with an endless stream of strangers.
The vibe
- Thoughtful participation is valued
- Curiosity is contagious
- Depth gets noticed
- Underrepresented languages are very welcome. If yours isn't here yet, just ask
- Opinions are valued to always better the platform and the atmosphere
- Virtual lounges are under construction. (That should be fun!)
If you care about how you learn, and you're a little obsessed with why some things stick and others don't, you'll feel at home here!
